“Come and play!” Award-winning Green-GO digital audio intercom plugs into ELC lighting network range at Prolight + Sound 2012

Anyone looking to try out the award-winning Green-GO digital intercom in the sound section of Prolight + Sound 2012 in Frankfurt this year may miss out on an opportunity to see the Ethernet-based communication system everyone is talking about – because it’s with lighting in hall 9. Green-GO caused excitement at both PLASA in London and LDI in Orlando where it debuted in 2011, and it is expected to have the same impact this year on the stand of CAST GmbH, in Hall 9, E71.

Following their success at PLASA 2011 by winning an Innovation Award, ELC Lighting’s ‘Green-GO’ digital show communications system designer Joost van Eenbergen and sales manager Silvio Cibien went on to win a second award at LDI in Orlando: the LDI 2011 ‘Best Debuting Product of the Year’ award in the sound category. But don’t look for it at Frankfurt in the sound section – it’s definitely with lighting this year in hall 9!

Silvio Cibien said, “Although Green-GO can be considered an audio product, it’s main feature is that it uses any standard Ethernet lighting network, so it is really an extension of our comprehensive ELC networking product range that will be on show at Frankfurt.”

Green-GO is a new style of intercom system that provides high quality digital voice communications as well as optional text messages with cue lights. An intercom system is created simply by connecting outstations anywhere on the same PoE Ethernet network (Power over Ethernet), which can be an existing lighting network, or any available Ethernet network.

The system is expandable to over 3000 users in a maximum of 250 groups (or rings). To create a simple wide-area digital intercom, just a set of beltpacks are needed – no expensive central matrix unit or separate power supplies are required – because all network data settings and preferences are stored in each outstation, and the basic units are powered via the network delivering standard PoE. Multichannel outstations, with added features, can also be powered from a mains supply.

Established for over fifteen years, ELC has moved into a dominant position in high specification, high reliability Ethernet/DMX networks for live entertainment lighting rigs in established venues and large-scale tours. Visitors to the CAST stand will see a selection of ELC’s range of products for transmitting DMX over Ethernet, including nodes, switches and software. Equally well known for its DMX accessories, ELC will also be showing lighting network accessories including splitters, mergers, remote focus controls, show recorders, and a DMX tester.

Silvio concluded, “Green-GO was launched as a pre-production system at PLASA and LDI at the end of last year, and we are now shipping production units to distributors all over the world.”
